Early Life and Career

Michael Gordon Clifford was born on November 20, 1995, in the western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. He attended Norwest Christian College, where he first met his future bandmates, Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin. In 2011, the four boys formed the band 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS).

The band gained popularity through their YouTube channel, where they posted covers of popular songs. In 2012, they signed with Sony Music Australia and released their debut single, "She Looks So Perfect." The song was a huge hit, reaching number one in multiple countries.
